Before you book

What a session costs, how the Medicare rebate works, which therapies have actually been tested, and what happens the first time you walk in. The questions people ask before they make an appointment, answered without the hedging.

The short version. A standard consultation is between $260 and $290 before any rebate. With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, Medicare covers up to ten sessions a calendar year and most people are between about $130 and $170 out of pocket each time.
